S.T.A.L.K.E.R is an excellent Survival horror FPS game. Its set in a alternative reality in the zone of alienation around Chernobyl where a second nuclear disaster occurs at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Exclusion Zone in the near future (in the year 2012 but the game was released in 2007) and causes strange changes in the area around it such as anomalies which are basically small areas where reality and physics are distorted and those areas do various dangerous things such as collect static electricity in the air then discharge it when someone walks through it.
The anomalies spawn artifacts which are items that can enhance or affect your stats such as increasing your bullet resistance by 3% but gives you +5 radiation every few seconds or gives you +36 endurance (makes you run further) for -16% electric resistance.

You can visit Pripyat which the ingame version is modeled after the actual town/city but is smaller in scale and is to the south of the Nuclear Power Plant whereas it is actually to the north west.

All the NPC's are non-scripted so theres plenty of stuff to do if you don't want to do any of the storyline missions and the NPC's will be doing stuff even when you're not in the same area so you could clear a area of bandits and come back and there will be more or something. I wouldnt bother talking to every NPC you see because there isn't much to talk about and apparently it was revealed by the developers that the Artificial Intelligence had to be extremely slimmed down, as it could actually complete the game by itself if given the task

Sorry for the rubbish post I didn't really know what to put down about it so i just put what the first things that came into my mind in here. But it really is a brilliant game.

The ai actually is scripted.

You script them to smart terrains. Then they decide how long they stay at each one for, some stay there forever.

It does cause some really whacky behaviour, especially in wild territory.

Probably 1 of my fav games of all time. I used to mod it quite alot Smile

I love the sort of glitches you can find in the game and how the NPC's can react.

Like one time i found a dead body with its leg stuck in a burning bin and it was set on fire when ever it was disturbed.

and another time there was some stalker walking casually while he was on fire.

and finally there was a stalker moving around but with no walking animation so he was sliding around.

And of course there is the "Get out of here stalker!"

DANMIT YOU KILLED US ALL.

The voice acting and models of the quest giver npcs and merchants kind of irritated me a little, but you can't deny the atmosphere.
