New laptop!
Hi there guys, I'm getting a new laptop because my brother is mean and hogs his fancy and shiny new custom-built desktop computer. So hopefully, that explains why I haven't been able to log on to the server for a while. Luckily, he doesn't know that I know his password so I might sneak on to Steam, but don't expect me to play Garrys Mod or something. I don't want to leave clues behind.
I'm like Sam Fisher right now and I don't want to screw it up!
P.S Is there a way to replace laptop parts with better ones? Specifically a Graphics card or whatever it is for the laptop? I would greatly appreciate it.

Intel Core i5 3230M 2.6 GHz (3 MB Cache)Cypher wrote:What are the specs on the laptop?
6 GB SO-DIMM
750 GB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
15.6-Inch Screen, NVIDIA GeForce GT 730M
Windows 8
I'm thinking that I'm gonna need a new graphics card/chip to run benchmark games. However, it's a little over $700 and fits my budget very nicely.
EDIT: I also heard Windows 8 is a chore.

Re: New laptop!
I believe that the only component that can be upgraded on a laptop is the hard drive lol so no new graphics chips for youTeletric wrote:Intel Core i5 3230M 2.6 GHz (3 MB Cache)Cypher wrote:What are the specs on the laptop?

LOL Pleb-Tier 730. Anything below X50 for GTX might as well be a piece of graph paper

Re: New laptop!
Windows 8 is not bad at all, it's just annoying if you for some reason don't have time to click your desktop icon when you start up your computer. I am running Windows 7 on my main computer (my big gaming rig) and windows 8 on my laptop which works very well for me. Windows 8 was really made with tablets in mind though, so you don't really get much out of having that over 7, but it's definately not worse than windows 7. Don't worry about that.
What I would recommend is doing what I am doing. Have a good desktop PC with good parts, a desktop PC is easy to upgrade. Then have a thin laptop for schoolwork. It's very simple and it isn't as heavy carrying around with you. The only con imo is that it's hard to transport your gaming pc to your friends house in case there is a LAN going on or something, but if your friends have laptops they can just come to you

Re: New laptop!
LAN parties are dying out these days. Even the cheapest and slowest broadbands are capable of gaming without any problem, combine that with VoIP and dragging around a heavy desktop to LAN parties becomes pointless. LAN still does have some benefits that regular online gaming with buddies doesnt have, but personally I dont think its worth the effort .Rodney Bryson wrote:Windows 8 is not bad at all, it's just annoying if you for some reason don't have time to click your desktop icon when you start up your computer. If you wanna spend time with your mates then replace gaming with a different, more fun activity, and let gaming be done over the internet.

Re: New laptop!
I disagree, me and my friends have had tons of fun having LAN together. Of course, it's much easier doing it over the internet with skype etc but it's not the same. At all.Igor The Sloth wrote:LAN parties are dying out these days. Re: New laptop!
Thanks for the help, but the problem is I already have a desktop PC but my brother doesn't want me to use it because he thinks I' ll screw it up. So I just wanted to know a way to replace my laptop parts and install a new graphics card or something along those lines.Rodney Bryson wrote:Windows 8 is not bad at all, it's just annoying if you for some reason don't have time to click your desktop icon when you start up your computer. For Laptops, HD 8000 Is the High End, 7000 Mid End, 6000 Low End.

Download GPU-Z/CPU-Z or Speccer or something like that, ask Cypher for that Spec program. He uses it.Felor Metlock wrote:I have a windows 8
